Palindrone - special election update: When Robots Attack

October 31, 2008 By: cboyer Category: Political No Comments →

A few weeks ago, yooRyoo ran an exclusive feature on a small robotic firm located on the icy tundra in Alaska that unleased horrific Palindrones on the “lower 48.” These drones took the disguise of Republican operatives and political candidates, and reversed themselves on every position possible.

One tenacious viewer from Southern California just sent yooRyoo a link to candid, underground footage of these robots stripped bare of their false skins, and utlizing state-of-the-art telephony technology to continue to dominate the world. Whether their rogues or mavericks or just plain divas, yooRyoo now presents: When Robots Attack!!!!

We Can’t Make This Stuff Up: “Twitter is a tool for terrorists”

October 28, 2008 By: cboyer Category: We Can't Make This Stuff Up No Comments →

Once again, we here at yooRyoo - who typically enjoy making fun of web 2.0 technologies - have stumbled across a news report that just begs believability:

The US Army Intelligence report has decidedly put Twitter on terror-alert, indicating that terrorist networks could be using this tool for malicious purposes!!! A quote from the report states:

Twitter has also become a social activism tool for socialists, human rights groups, communists, vegetarians, anarchists, religious communities, atheists, political enthusiasts, hacktivists and others to communicate with each other and to send messages to broader audiences.

Socialists, vegetarians and atheists - oh my! Remembering the 140 character limitation of Twitter posts, these horrible agencies would be forced to not only be succinct, but imagine having to manage all of the “follows” and “removes”…it boggles the imagination. I wonder if Jihadists get annoyed by that horrible “fail whale” image (follow the fail whale at: http://twitter.com/failwhale)…

Fail Whale for terrorists

Again, we can’t make this one up - it’s actually true!

New Chuck Norris Unsocial Network: MyFistYourFacebook.com

October 27, 2008 By: zenboy Category: Celebritech 1 Comment →

Following on the heels of Hoffspace, the David Hasselhoff Social Network, Chuck Norris has released his own version of an online community called MyFistYourFacebook.com, an Unsocial Network. Much like lolcats, lolroadkill and lolfurniture, this site is mostly about posting photos with Chuck Norris one-liners:

Chuck Norris does NOT need a social network, the social network needs HIM

Chuck Norris will kick Sh*tkickr.com ASS!

Chuck Norris kicks Fight Club ASS!

MyFistYourFacebook.com also has the ability for members to create groups, much like Myspace and Facebook have now. Except on Chuck Norris’ site, these groups are geared less around building a community and more towards fighting one-upmanship, such as the “I could take you” group, or the related “I could take you, and yer mom too” group. Discussions range from schoolyard fight videos to discussions with lines like “This fight would take two hits: I hit you, and you hit the ground!”

MyFistYourFacebook.com has also integrated the “Tap-o-wicki” social network for young men who post about their latest (imaginary) conquests, with users in the discussion areas posting about, “Yeah, Marissa Miller and me, yeah, I tapped that,” and “I roundhouse kicked Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie left him for me. Yeah, I tapped that twice.”

Is It Real? - a test of your Web 2.0 savvy

Welcome to this Sunday’s Is It Real?, where we feature some web 2.0 technology/service/program that begs believability, and asks us to question if it is real. We leave the voting polls open all week, and then reveal the answer the following Friday. Capiche? Good…let’s introduce this week’s company - Stache Passions!

A 100% free social networking & online dating site specifically for singles with a passion for the moustache, Stache Passions is a social network built around members that feel there is nothing finer than a good stache. Friday Fishwrap (10-24-08): GW Bush endorses McCain/Palin - with Will Ferrill and Tina Fey

October 24, 2008 By: cboyer Category: Friday Fishwrap No Comments →

yooRyoo\'s Friday Fishwrap!

Happy Friday! In today’s Friday Fishwrap we’ll share with you the results of last Sunday’s “Is It Real?” vote, and since voting is on everyone’s mind, our viral video this week is of GW Bush endorsing the McCain/Palin ticket.

First up, last Sunday we presented a social networking application designed to help lawyers network with one another, share tactics over virtual “water coolers” and generally interact with one another. With close to 150,000 lawyers, LegalForce promises to be the hottest social networking app for legal eagles…and then we asked if it was real. Here are the results of the poll:

  • 50% of you thought it was real
  • 25% said no
  • 25% said maybe

After a slight recess, the jury has returned with this verdict: yes, indeed LegalForce is a real social networking application. C’mon, they have social networking sites dedicated to virtually everything - are you surprised?

Speaking of surprise, did you catch Will Ferrill making a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live: Thursday Update yesterday? He shared the stage with the brilliant Tina Fey…in a spot called “George W. Bush endorses McCain/Palin” - watch the video below - and enjoy your Friday!

Yahoo to cut 10% of internet from it’s search results

October 22, 2008 By: cboyer Category: Internet, Pron No Comments →

In response to the devastating news that Yahoo! plans to reduce it’s workforce by 10%, CEO and co-founder Jerry Yang indicated a way to continue to deliver its core services without impact to overall workflow.

Jerry 'I make a trillion dollars and I can't get a good haircut' Yang

“It’s simple, we’ll continue to provide the second-best search engine services, but reduce the amount of webpages we index by 10%. Problem solved!” he stated in an impromptu press conference today. After a moment, he added, “Besides 50% of the webpages out there are crap - who will notice?”

Yang then outlined the specific approach to determining which pages will actually show up in Yahoo’s SERPs after the restructure:

  • 100% of all “adult” websites (as they are the most frequented and generate the most ad dollars for the company
  • 50% of all sites with extensions .us, .tv, .cc and .gov (”Who really uses those sites, anyway” he commented)
  • No MySpace sites at all (”That’s a dying social network anyway - those people really need to move to FaceBook”)

Yahoo: Porn gateway

The restructure will be effective in 2009, when the company will change it’s name to “Yahoo 2.0! Your new Pron gateway!”

Joe Plumber was asked his opinion, since as a plumber making $250,000 he represents the common man’s opinion, “What? Another porn directory? There’s already a ton of them, and they ALL do a better job than Yahoo! I mean I just got off on…err, please strike that. Sir, can you strike that?”

When reached for comment, Google CEO Eric Schmidt said, “Yahoo? They’re still around? Imagine that…Go Obama!”

McCain Last Ditch Attempt at Online Ads - He Got It Wrong Again!

October 21, 2008 By: cboyer Category: Political No Comments →

The McCain camp, after learning this past weekend that not only was Colin Powell supporting his opponent, but that Barack Obama has raised a record breaking $150M in campaign funds last month, has thrown all caution to the wind with their online advertising buys.

Similar to last week’s fiasco of purchasing in-game advertising on the Xbox 360, the McCain/Palin campaign is putting out all stops in purchasing online banner ads in any available ad space (like yooRyoo - see the ad in the lower right hand part of this very page!). Unfortunately, true to McCain’s “maverick” style and impetuous decision-making skills, he has gotten it all wrong again.

Rather than have our readers scour the web for samples of these misplaced, misspoken and highly-unusual ads, yooRyoo has gathered them here for your convenience:

Is this McCain ad racist?

Grumpy old men

VPILF - that\'s all we can say!

Don\'t tell grampa until after he\'s had a \

In a miscalculation, even the click-through URLs of these ads are reportedly wrong, sending users to sites such as VPILF.com, the Sarah Palin Blog and Sarah Palin as President!

Palin-drones receive firmware update: Palin performs flawless imitation of Tina Fey

October 20, 2008 By: zenboy Category: Political No Comments →

In a surprise twist, Republican Vice Presidential Palin-drone robotic candidate Sarah Palin has decided to launch a web-exclusive imitation of Tina Fey doing an impression of the Palin-drone robot Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin Photo

“It’s uncanny the way the latest software update in the Palin-drone Sarah has been able to imitate Tina Fey, a certifiable comic genius, as she is herself imitating the Palin-drone Sarah Palin,” responded Melissa Shuffield, the McCain Press Secretary. “She really has it down, the folksy way she drops the “g” endings when she speaks, the way she acts a little dumb and condescending to rural voters, bringing up Joe Six Pack and Joe the “I make $250,000 and don’t want to pay an extra $1,500 in taxes” Plumber.”

In fact, Sarah Palin’s recent appearance on Saturday Night Live as Tina Fey imitating vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin appeared flawless:

Some pundits say that the Palin-drone Sarah unwittingly played into the hands of the media elite as she basically took part in skewering herself. Tina Fey was overheard to remark, “It was as if we were barbecuing her and she offered to do the basting.” Ms. Fey added, “Now, wait a second…did you say she was a robot?”

Recently, some conspiracy blogs “revealed” that Sarah Palin was actually a Palin-drone, a kind of backtracking type of robot that imitates the candidates with the goal of reversing their previous public record remarks when it suits them politically. It seems that additional functionality has them sabotaging their own campaigns.

In a related note, the aforementioned “conspiracy site” theory regarding the Palin-drones has been verified as extending throughout the Republican ranks, with pundits and politicos on the right side of the aisle taking on extreme opposing positions - even support of candidates. The latest of which was seen on yesterday’s Meet the Press, when the Colin-drone revealed his support for the presidency:

Is It Real #12: LegalForce - social networking for lawyers

October 19, 2008 By: cboyer Category: Is It Real No Comments →

Is It Real? - a test of your Web 2.0 savvy

Happy Sunday and welcome to our regular Sunday feature called “Is It Real?“…where you guess if the web 2.0 company/product/service that we present to you today is real.

You see, we give you just enough information to grasp the concept of what we’re presenting, and then ask you to vote - without the help of the web in ANY WAY - if this company is real or not. Voting runs all week, and we reveal the real answer this Friday in the Friday Fishwrap.

Today we present to you a social networking site dedicated to lawyers. Called “LegalForce,” this site allows you to join only if you are a lawyer (all other people will either be sued or pressured into instigating legal action against another!). LegalForce currently has close to 150,000 lawyers enrolled, and provides a platform to share contacts and information about current rulings.

Moreover, it has a special section called “the Water Cooler” where fellow lawyers can start threads about certain topics (”What is the bonus at Cheatem, Lyum and Steele if you become a Jr. Partner?”) or qvetch about that pesky criminal trial you are working on (”How can I trick the judge into giving me a four day recess, because I have tickets to Guadalajara for a long weekend?”).

It seems that every profession has some form of social networking, and LegalForce is the one for lawyers.

So, yooRyoo readers, I ask - is LegalForce real? And be careful of how you answer, they may be watching…

Is LegalForce a real social networking site for lawyers?

  • Yes - and I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth (50%, 2 Votes)
  • No - but I only say this on advice of my legal counsel (25%, 1 Votes)
  • Maybe - I plead the Fifth at risk of incriminating me (25%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 4
